[edit]

Some models are known to broadcast with the following SSID patterns (from this post):

  • "Penguin-[0-9]{10}"
  • "[0-9]{10}"

This appears to have been disabled on new installations at some point.

Organizations not fully mapped

[edit]

Based on the data from this blog post, there are about 7k organizations in the Flock Safety network (as of 2025-07-28).

  1. Use a geocoder like nominatim to identify the administrative area (admin_level=...) for each organization
  2. Determine whether any ALPR are known to exist in that admin area
  3. Compare the number of ALPR found to the number expected from the Flock Transparency portal
  4. For any organization with fewer mapped cameras than known (or those not present in the transparency portal)
    1. Make a note of the organization below
    2. Update the page with any details of where the cameras are located
    3. Try to find and map the cameras

Organizations

[edit]

There are nearly 100k Flock Safety ALPR installed in the USA, of which about 20k are mapped on openstreetmap.

If you want to help contribute, take a look through this list of organizations for ones near you and look for any public records about any ALPR they have installed.

  1. Create a page for the organization
  2. Add any details you can find:
    • press releases
    • news reports
    • public records
    • FOIA requests
    • meeting minutes
  3. For any cameras with identified locations, check whether a record exists on OSM
  4. If you identify a possible missing camera, go look for it and follow these instructions when you find it

The goal is to enable others to follow the breadcrumbs as easily as possible. These are all living pages, so update them when you find new or revised information
